[assets] remember last folder visited

Would be nice to have an option to remember last asset folder used, to reopen it without having to navigate the structure again for each image selection

This sounds neat. Could you elaborate on how you think this could work best? Because I think this could be distracting. One way I could imagine such a feature:

  • You check a checkbox for that specific field and it will be saved to the entry: so next time you open up the asset browser, you start navigating from there on that specific entry. (Maybe also distracting as you have yet another option to check in the asset browser)
  • You automatically open up the folder from the previous file selection, in case you reselect an asset (for example after choosing the wrong file)

Also: check the folder option of the fieldtype: https://statamic.dev/fieldtypes/assets#options

Sure the best option is to allow a checkbox for each field to remember the folder . I currently use the same fieldset for all uploads so it's difficult to use the existing folder option... I'll look into it when I get some time

We get this request from clients a lot, so very much in favor :)

Especially for things like preview images, where editors will try out a few images inside the live preview, having the control panel remember the previous folder would be fantastic and save them lots of clicks. To avoid confusion, the remembered value could be scoped to the current entry and current session, so you'd start at the root again when editing another entry.
