Is "Please enter you account email and password." a legal query? [Help Wanted]
Is this a legal query? I can't find any official information about it? It seems to open in the app, but I can't verify 100% if this is real and even necessary.
Version: Windows 3.175.2
Hi @AxelHamburch , this is an actual feature of the app, wherein it will ask for your login credentials to revalidate your current app session. This can happen if you haven't used the app on your device after a while, or if a background process might have wiped some cached keychain data on your device.
If you think that neither of those apply to you, you can try to reset the desktop app as instructed below:
- Click on the menu button on the top left of the app.
- Click on the View dropdown menu.
- Click on the Toggle Developer Tools option.
- Expand the window until it reveals a button for tab named Application.
- Under Application, click on Storage.
- Click on Clear site data.
- Relaunch the app, and sign in again.
Thanks @effieeee !
Can I check if the session to the server is down? I have not entered my data yet to do a refresh. I have always been able to click away and so far everything still works. Even the synchronization between the devices. Now the message no longer pops up either. I find such a pop-up with the requirement to enter his login data always a bit creepy, especially with a privacy tool. I have also found nothing on the Internet or in the documentation. Maybe you can go a different way, e.g. a display that you are offline. Then you can decide for yourself if you want to reconnect to the server. But at least the process should be officially documented, so that one can understand that.
Standard Notes is great in any case. A wonderful tool, thank you!
Encountering the prompt itself would be the indicator that your current session is supposedly down and in need of reauthentication, so I'll take note that the syncing pushed through in spite of not proceeding with the authentication. We'll take note of your suggestion here as well though!
@effieeee Is there a way to force the revalidation process? I experienced something odd the other day during the revalidation process but have been using SN often enough that I haven't had to do it lately. I am trying to duplicate the error before submitting a ticket. I tried the instructions you listed in your response to @AxelHamburch, but that didn't work. Thank you!
Hi @evanscybersecurity, I see, though I think it would be best for you to send us the details of what you experienced via email ([email protected]), so that we can look into it further. I'll continue assisting you from there as well 🙏
