Sort Option

Open craig-s opened this issue 8 years ago • 7 comments

Would you consider including a new sort order option ? This would be consistent with the desktop and web based apps.

And, if you do decide to implement this, could you please include a third sort option to sort the notes by title alphabetically ? This is very useful when searching for a specific note.

  • date added
  • date modified
  • alphabetically (NEW)

Or, if this is too much work, then would you consider sorting the tag filtered list and search list alphabetically, and leaving the main, unfiltered list, sorted by date modified ?

Any thoughts ?

Not to hard, main issue is where and how to surface the functionality. Happy to put it in the settings screen, disadvantage is it's awkward to change often. The other solution would be an icon in the action bar, but there's not a lot of room there. Would you anticipate changing this setting often?

In iOS we do it here:

I think it'd be best to do it in the side drawer as well so that we don't have to introduce new components or UI.

The Navigation Drawer sounds good to me. It won't take up valuable realestate in the action bar, for something that won't be used too frequently - but still be very accessible.

Actually, the Settings icon should really be there too, as I would imagine that that would be used less frequently than a short option.

Actually, a lot of the better Android 'NotePad' apps out there seem to have the Settings in the Navigation Drawer, and the search and sort (if provided for) items in the ActionBar...

  • Omni Notes
  • Fair Notes
  • Notes (Jacob Ras)

But, up to you...

If we can plug in to what's "standard" for the platform, that would be best. Makes interacting with the app thoughtless, which is always good.
