Workaround Gradle `jvm-test-suite` binary breaking change

Use reflection to avoid JVM level binary breaking change introduced in Gradle 8.6. Fixes gh-2098 and gh-2099.

Hi @shanman190 , thanks for creating the PR. However, the 4.0.x branch is no longer under OSS maintenance (we're not planning future releases). Please submit your PR against main.
