TypeError when getting passwords

Open pabloperezj opened this issue 2 years ago • 2 comments

Hi,

A VT4Splunk user found an issue when trying to get passwords. The app version is 1.6.1 (1.6.0 is also affected) in Splunk Enterprise 9.0.4. When accessing to Configuration page an ERR0005 is received.

Following the trace error, we noticed the error is in here, where the password.clear_password previously stored is None.

The problem seems to be a known issue but has not been solved yet. Others examples where the issue appears are this one or this one.

Sincerely we could not reproduce the issue but it seems to be easily fixed by adding an if is not None or something similar.

We hope it could be fixed :)

Hi @pabloperezj Thanks for submitting an issue.

I do understand that you could not reproduce the issue. I installed an add-on last week and it was working fine (the configuration page loaded properly), so do you mind sharing the scenario the user found?

Also I can't configure the add-on because I do not have proper credentials but I can comment validation out and play with it.

Our app also experience this issue on our customer side time to time as well. The same issue mentioned in this thread: https://community.splunk.com/t5/All-Apps-and-Add-ons/TheHive-Cortex-2-3-2-REST-Error-500/td-p/693101 The lib should handle the 'Nonetype' error instead of showing error page. Not sure what exact reproduce steps but this does happen time to time. Our customer mentioned that they didn't change anything, and after several weeks, it happened and blocked them to edit the input...
