vampires design doc (evil) (a draft again)

yeah its a design doc for vampires >:33

the ability list could use more thought, but its mostly conceptual atm first time writing one of these

have you checked out any 13 versions of vampires? Id recommend paradise since I think those are my personal favourite

i avoided checking it up until writing a bunch of stuff to avoid accidentally copying too much from it, but yeah imma look it up now

I just say that because I'm not a fan of it being another snowball conversion antag and it's power system, still looks good though! Lots of great ideas in there (although paradise does have a cool path for that)

currently wondering if it would be a good idea to give them classes, it does seem like a good way to balance unique playstyles in ss13 but i feel like with the whole rank system already it may get too complex/confusing

i thinkie for now im gonna stick with balancing it trough the bloodpoints cost to unlock and their cooldown

#second thingi i rembered i wanted to mention# also thinking if an extra rank would be needed, maybe a queen/king tier and make that the final objective tier? it would at least be conceptually cooler, and easier for most people to be like "yeah that message about a vampire king is bad"

This seems really neat! Will vampires have their own shuttle or will they spawn somewhere in maints (perhaps in bat form)? Also, is there a way for newly created vampires to obtain vampire drip? Maybe there could be an ability that just gives you a vampire cloak haha

You could just shift the names down, replacing Peasant with Baron. So it would go Baron>Count>King/Queen. However if you do want it to be a fourth rank, I do have an idea. Perhaps the vampire king could have a final, ritual like ability called "Usher Eternal Darkness" or something over the top like that. Naturally the crew would get a heads up when the Vampire King attempts this, so he should have minions ready to defend. It would have a very long do-after and upon success would break all the lights on the station, kill the singularity/tesla, guns would stop working, and crew becomes visible thru walls for all vampires. Centcomm would detect this and send a shuttle automatically, but the crew is pretty much toast in this situation. Regardless of whether some crew members escape or not, the Vampire King would get greentext. Theoretically the crew could come back from this if they killed the vampires, restarted power, and then recalled the shuttle in time... but it would be very difficult indeed to pull off. I have no idea if this idea is original or not (prolly not) but I think it would be cool.

-shuttle maybe for midround vampires, but i dont plan on them being immune to spacing so prolly spawn in maints

-drip the vampire drip spell is a cool as heck idea so yeah

the final boss idea feels a bit too similar to a cult, but itll thinkie about it

I really like all the new spell ideas you've added! Minor nitpick though - the Telepathy spell should be renamed to Telekinesis. Telepathy refers to things like mind reading, whereas Telekinesis is manipulating physical objects with your mind.

I also think that the paradise version is one of the best incarnations of a vampire. It has a diverse gameplay, and it can stand up for itself, unlike the goon version. However, this is quite difficult to implement. But implementing a version of this design document will be much, much more difficult. Will you implement it yourself?

oki so in all honesty i prolly went a tad overboard overcomplicated while trying to make them interesting, so ill read over this again after im done with other stuffies and fix the mess

Oki so the one gimmick i dont think its bad from this whole thingi, them being a competing antag. Right now its veeeeeery rare that antags will fight each other, at all

So having a bunch of vampires compete with each other to see who can be the one and only King/Queen sounds cool

oki thinking again on this, as fun as it sounded. The whole competing aspect would make this a too metagamey antag, so i think im gonna drop the aspect of just 1 King/Queen, and let them rank up freely. Dont wanna people feeling like they have to speedrun stuff

Even then, blood in the station is a limited resource so if the station is infested with vampires there may be struggles to see who actually gets to eat. Compared to syndies which rarely ever have a reason to clash unless they have opposing objectives.

Their ideal gameplay look is prolly gonna be something like this, so more of a snowballing antag that needs to drain the stations blood to survive and becomes stronger the longer they survive
