transform a HTTP 1.0 response from a backend to a HTTP 1.1 response to the client

What would be the requirements here ? I guess only changing the HTTP version in the response is not enough ?

there are a few changes in the behaviour, like keep alive: in HTTP 1.0 you must specify Connection: keep-alive, while HTTP 1.1 is keep-alive by default, and you must specify Connection: close if you don't want that behaviour.

More generally, We should think about how to separate protocol implementations between frontend and backend, since we might need that for HTTP/2.
