fix: find function now returns correct path

Fixes: #434

I've also noticed the following commit on the dev branch is commenting out the detectAdapter logic. I'm not sure if we are moving away from it or not but the logic for find was left there. This can be closed if we are getting rid of the detectAdapter logic and have no other need for the find function.
