Process for domain renewal

Create process and procedure for renewing Solid Project's domains.

• List domains.
• List admins (and contact information) for domain management.
• Indicate if domains are autorenewed and when, e.g., 2+ years before expiry.
• Specify audit log for changes to the domain registry.
• Set up notifications for current and upcoming events.
• Document EPP Status Codes, e.g., clientTransferProhibited, autoRenewPeriod

For reference, we have: https://github.com/solid/process/blob/main/system-operators.md -> as people who can admin to solidcommunity.net but there are different levels and this is not reflected in this list. I think this kind of information is important. It is imperative one knows who to contact in urgent matters (for example for domain expiration). Lets discuss it at the next meeting.

Trying to describe domain and server management :

• Server administration levels :

  • payer : direct payee, or reinbursement
  • account-manager : can be shared (shared password or multi owner) or not, delegated (depending on service availability)
  • system-operators : users with delegations through access keys to some functions (update certs) or server root access

• Server services :

  1. domain name : creation and renewal --> account manager --> delegated managed functions like automatic certificates renewal

  2. hosting : creation, renewal, services updates --> account manager --> delegated managed functions like server management (update content and data, backup, certificates ..)

  3. other services : like email server --> email account manager --> shared or private email account/password
