Wifi and huge fontsize?

I'd like to know what the limitations are for wifi. I don't need fastly refreshed display of data. I just need a refresh every second. I know wifi can introduce flickering, but is that also when i only refresh the screen once a second?

And how (if at all possible) would i display a big size font? I need to display a counter that needs to be seen from 10 meters away.
