Reference from "another video"
Not sure if this is out of the scope here, just wondering if I have an "unsynchronized" subtitle A and video file B, but the subtitle is actually "synchronized" with "another version" of the same video C(like recording of TV show, but cut the advertisement at the different point), so A and C are synchronized, but A and B are not, is it possible to use video C as the reference, then sync subtitle A with video B? Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the comment. I'm afraid I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this use case. Is the end goal to watch video B with correctly synced subtitles from A? If so, we would typically want to use B as the reference, since it doesn't change in this process (since it's much easier to modify subtitles than it is to modify video).
In your example, I'm not sure how we would sync A to B using C as the reference -- we really need data from B at some point in this process. Maybe there's something I'm missing?

I'm not familiar with the implementation details in this field, just thought that as A and C are synced, maybe there is a way to resync A with B, and I just found that there is a project may be able to do that: https://github.com/tp7/Sushi, I'll test it and see how does it work ;)

I see what you're saying now I think -- the idea is that it's easier to get a fine-grained correspondence between different audio files, which can then be used to get an accurate subtitle synchronization. I'll leave this issue open for now as a potential enhancement.

I've tried to sync subtitle A with video B using subsync, the first part of the result looks really amazing, but since a certain point, I guess a few subtitles are misplaced, then all the following subtitles are misplaced, so I thought this method to use another correctly synced video/audio can help in this situation, thanks again!
Just a quick update, Sushi works great for the scenario, so I just use it to port subtitle from version A to version B, and then use Subsync to accurate the timeline, really nice 🎉
