i keep getting error while running msi file

Hi, I'm running windows 10, and i'm trying to install autopsy by downloading and running the msi file.

But every time I do, I get an error saying: this installation package could not be opened. contact vendor

Other msi files work just fine. So I guess I thought I would just do what the error told me :D contacting the vendor

@S3j5b0, what version of Autopsy are you trying to install, and is it safe to assume that you downloaded it from our Basis Technology site at https://www.autopsy.com/download/?

yes, it's the 4.18 taken directly from that link :)

That's strange, to be sure. I just downloaded the Autopsy 4.18.0 MSI from our website, used it to install Autopsy on my Windows 10 laptop, and created a case. I also tested that installer in the same way on a clean Windows 10 VM before we released. I know that other people have successfully installed the software. I'm inclined to chalk your troubles up to something specific to your environment. I'm sorry, I wish I could be more helpful, but I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

yes, it's weird, I made it work perfect on a friends pc
