Tag "latest" version
Dear maintainers,
Thank you for making this container image accessible, it's a great help!
I have noticed that it would be very convenient to be able to run
; docker run quay.io/singularity/singularity
Unable to find image 'quay.io/singularity/singularity:latest' locally
...
and automatically get the latest version of Singularity.
Currently it leads to the error
docker: Error response from daemon: manifest for quay.io/singularity/singularity:latest not found: manifest unknown: manifest unknown.
because the "latest" tag does not exist. Would it be possible to push new versions not just to "v4.x.x" but also to "latest"?
Thank you so much for your help :-)
@HippocampusGirl thank you for the suggestion! Not having a latest tag was an explicit decision to make the person think about their choice of version. In that it's a moving target, it would be dangerous for someone to pin "latest" into some pipeline and then later get a very different image. These are the current reasons we have not been providing latest.
