Unable to Open Device
I'm new to this world and running into some problems. I'm getting this when i run HIDtest:
Device Found
type: 14fa 0001
path: USB_14fa_0001_0x7f8899501460
serial_number:
Manufacturer: Wild Divine
Product: ST7 RS232 USB BIOFBK
Release: 4217
Interface: -1
unable to open device logout
and test gui is throwing this at me in rapid succession: Received 8 bytes: 07 30 30 20 30 33 44 36
My whole struggle here is to get this data into MAX/MSP. Currently my HID detector object in Max is reporting all of this information as well - but it can't make any sense of it. I added HIDAPI based off this feed: https://github.com/qdot/liblightstone/tree/hidapi which provides a Max patch - but the patch isnt reporting a connection to the Lightstone.
If i'm way out of the park here, no worries, don't waste your time on me.
thanks
Do you have permissions to open the device? What platform are you on? Did you set the VID/PID in hidtest?
It sounds like it works, if it works with test TestGUI.
I can't help you determine what the data means. It's different for each device. You'll either have to check that device's documentation, or reverse-engineer it.
@Teglen105 Hi I'm also trying to connect the iom to max msp but cant get it done ive downloaded the iom library from the link you gave, but there is no max patch in there.... How did you manage? have you gotten any further with this? can you help me to connect the iom to max msp??
Hey, infectednl,
I'm sorry to say I never got any further with it. In the end I just made an optical character reader and just grabbed the data that way. It was pretty janky, but it worked in the end.

I'm talking about Brazil.
Do you still have the ST7 RS232 USB BIOFBK software?
I lost the media for this product's software. You know where to find this software.
