I cant login to github in github desktop on ubuntu

The problem

There seems to be an endless loop between the Sign in button, the browser opening and telling me to authorize, but when I do, all it does is go back to Github Desktop and the same Sign In button appears.

3.4.9 Linux RC1

Operating system

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Open the app
  2. Sign in
  3. Create a new repository with files in it
  4. Publish the repository

I can't even sign in. After I click the verify button in the browser, I get this message:

You are being redirected to the authorized application.

If your browser does not redirect you back, please visit [this setup page](x-github-desktop-dev-auth://oauth?code=249fd2fb0ecefc75b2c3&state=c7bc4491-34a8-4a96-8473-2b932d2244a4) to continue.

Then the desktop app just remains in the loading state.
