I honestly don't know how to license this. QEMU is GPL, and I don't know how that affects our code which is build scripts and patches for QEMU. The safest thing to do now would be to just treat this as an extension of QEMU.

My understanding: we can license this as GPL or anything less restrictive and still GPL-compatible (i.e., BSD), and when we ship it, the inclusion of QEMU would make the whole package be distributed under the terms of the GPL anyways.

Since BSD is easiest institutionally, my recommendation would be BSD, with the understanding that it's irrelevant and we're in GPL land anyways.

Okay, sounds good. I'm leaving this issue open until we verify that our bdist includes the qemu GPL license.
