I narrowed down my extended shutdown issue within irssi by manually unloading each script after leaving it running for a few days.

/script unload auto_server_ng hung irssi

I believe I have narrowed this down to all the event signal handlers that are bound but I am still struggling to find a way to replicate it perfectly.
