Fonts on plot axis labels are hard to read

Describe the bug Fonts on the plot axis labels do not use vector images and are hard to read. Antialiasing is not used. Fonts are rotated oblique which makes them hard to read.

Expected behavior Use vector fonts and antialiasing. Rotate fonts by 90 deg, or 180 deg, or do not rotate, to align with the pixels on the screen.
