I think it would be helpful to have this default config for the README. I don't know how cross-platform the keys for `os.sysconf` are, but it works on at least...

Add some RAII-style wrappers for windows, children, tree nodes, etc.

This is especially true because some things need to be popped even when they aren't open (e.g. child regions), but it's difficult to remember that.
