Can you install this on a external drive?

I've been having issues with crouton on a external drive so I want to know if I could install this on a sd card?

Everything is installed to /usr/local/var/lib/lxc and even the toolchain is in /usr/local . The script can be easily modified to point at the sdcard and everything should work.
