Modified for SQLite

Open compleatguru opened this issue 11 years ago • 4 comments

Hi Ryan,

I am excited about ProcessWire! I wanted to use SQLite for ease of development and faster deployment. I have done some modifications and will like to contribute back. It is not fully tested though. So far, I am able to create Page, Login, Install.

Hope that you will like it.

Thanks for your contribution here. Nice work! While this is not something we can integrate right now (we're nearing RC status for PW 2.5) it's definitely interesting to see that it's possible. So will definitely keep this as something to refer back to for the future, as maybe support for SQLite is simpler than I had thought it would be. I'm curious to know how everything works on your end in terms of speed and how it scales? How well do selectors work, in particular the text matching selectors like %=, *=, ~=, etc.? Fulltext indexing is rather important in PW and I had thought that SQLite's fulltext abilities weren't yet up to MySQL's, so it would be interesting to hear if that had come further since I last investigated it. One good way to test these things is to install nik's SelectorTest module from the modules directory.

I'd love for PW to support SQLite, too. But to implement that (and support for other dbs) in a feasible/manageable way, I'd prefer to consolidate all scattered SQL commands into a helper class first which can then be cloned and adapted for SQLite and/or other SQL dialects.
