Shakes peer cannot be opened on OS X mavericks.

It says: ShakesPeer cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

This is a security feature added to recent versions of OS X. To get around it, after trying to open the application go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy and then under the General tab select Open Anyway. It should subsequently open without further prompting.
