Approach not working with current qmk master

I implemented this a while ago and was quite happy with it. Yet... I decided to rearrange my keymap and thus needed to recompile the firmware. I did this with the current qmk master. Now everything works fine regarding the keymap and "standard" keyboard feature, but the trackpoint isn't working anymore.

Does anybody has an idea why this is the case? Did anything change in the firmware files? Can anybody confirm that this approach breaks with current master anyway or if this is just me?
