sound not routed when Airpods are connected on iPadOS 13.6

I can hear fine through the built-in speakers just fine (aside from it being a bit crackly at times).

I just connected my Airpods through bluetooth and I don’t hear any sound. I can hear sound through other apps (YouTube, Spotify, etc).

When I turn off bluetooth, i can hear sound through the built-in speakers again.

I am on an iPadPro (2018) 256GB on iOS 13.6
