What is the best way to build and run my own local app in AltStore?

I don't have an Apple Developer membership, and I want to manage my local apps using AltStore but I couldn't find any place online on how to do so. Currently, I am stuck trying to turn my Xcode project into an IPA file to transfer to my iPhone.

Afaik your app needs to be notarized by apple. You can read more about it here

So I can't add my own apps unless I have an Apple Developer membership?
