Help needed - Hosting the installer image files
Currently, the installer image files are hosted on my free Oracle Cloud account. That has a limit of 20GB for the (fast) object storage which is already full with bookworm images.
The trixie images are hosted on a very slow virtual machine (also on the free Oracle Cloud account.)
I am looking for volunteers/sponsors that could host the images with fast download speeds
Updating you in some weeks!
Do you have any data on how much traffic you expect? Maybe you can also put it on torrent? That's an easy shared load
I've just looked at the logs on the oracle cloud and there are only a few hits per day. Some of them from bots.
Torrents will work when this is a stabilized product with only a few releases a year. But right now I keep tweaking the code and there would be too many new torrents to keep up with.
I have a relatively cheap VPS with a lot of space running for some web apps. I would need to check how the other applications I run on it behave with the additional load but we can give it a try if you like to.
Isn't this something that could be hosted from 1Gb home connection? It sounds like this can easily be added tbh.
SpiralLinux puts the installer on SourceForge, It has ~4 MB/s speed compared to https://objectstorage.eu-frankfurt-1.oraclecloud.com which gives me under ~500 KB/s.
Update.
I think the issue lies in my internet speed, as now the speed is ~4-6 MB/s
What speeds does https://xs4some.nl/dl/opinionated-debian-installer-trixie-kde-plasma-20250830a.img give you?

1-2 MB/s. Pretty decent.
About that torrent idea: can you check whether you are able to download/seed the recent KDE image, please?

Sure, I downloaded it and left it to seed.
There are now torrent links in addition to the direct download links. I have added the oracle cloud https urls into the torrents' url-list field so the torrents should work even with noone seeding them.
Can you download the torrents and seed them, please?
Let me know if you encounter any issues with the torrents. Eventually, I want to make them the primary download option.
Sure, seeding three images :)
