RStudio not loading project with rig 0.5.0 with renv

Open PMassicotte opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

I installed the latest version of rig (0.5.0). When using rig rstudio renv.lock, it opens RStudio with the proper version of R registered in the renv lock file. However, the project is not loaded. Hopefully, this animated GIF clearly shows the issue.

Please let me know if I can provide further details.

Thank you in advance, Phil

So should rig use the .Rproj file that is in the same directory as renv.lock? Is it possible to have multiple .Rproj files in that directory?

Hi just ran into this as well - I agree it should open the rstudio project file in that folder. Alternatively to be more explicit you could allow passing a separate argument for the project file.

~~Seems like Rstudio behaves differently in different OSes:~~

Correction:

  • RStudio >= 2023.06.0 works well on all OSes.
  • RStudio <= 2022.07.2 works well on Windows and macOS, but not on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04).
  • I could not find a fix for the RStudio versions that do not work.

I'll document that rig works best with RStudio >= 2023.06.0.
