I have introduced a new Recents page instead. Will be slowly improving this page and shifting away the more screen to keep 3-4 tabs in the bar at all times

Both devices need to sync first before you can access the changes. Watch on first device Sync 1st device Sync 2nd device Should be marked as seen on 2nd device...
Are you using Google drive syncing or syncyomi syncing? If its Google drive, try clearing Google drive data, logout on both devices, relogin on both devices and then resync
And you are on 0.17.2.0 right? Cause it is working on my testing so i am unable to tell why it's not working for you
