how to set up api key file

exactly what it says in the title. there needs to be an outline of what the key file is supposed to look like and what it should contain, cause apparently a file named "key.txt" containing just the api key and nothing else doesnt cut it

yeah, you linked a tutorial on another site that may or may not contain information on this, but i cant see it because im apparently not authorised, so you know.

so, assuming i already have the string that is the api key, what format does the api key file need to be, what does it need contain, ideally you should include a dummy API file in the repo for you to copy-paste your credentials into
