Bug: Redirect pythoninsider.blogspot.com to blog.python.com

Open hugovk opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Describe the bug

We have both https://pythoninsider.blogspot.com/ and https://blog.python.org/ for the same Blogger blog.

It can be confusing to have both domains in use, and people often end up using the blogspot one:

https://www.youtube.com/live/Qk1b0AiZCYo?si=BTwkFihKRwPTW7Ne&t=1844

And the blog.python.org looks much better/official than a blogspot one.

Can we redirect pythoninsider.blogspot.com to blog.python.org, including permalinks such as https://pythoninsider.blogspot.com/2024/11/python-3140-alpha-2-released.html to https://blog.python.org/2024/11/python-3140-alpha-2-released.html?

To Reproduce

  1. Go to https://blog.python.org/
  2. See the Python Insider blog
  3. Go to https://pythoninsider.blogspot.com/
  4. See the same Python Insider blog but at a different domain

Expected behavior

  1. Go to https://blog.python.org/
  2. See the Python Insider blog
  3. Go to https://pythoninsider.blogspot.com/
  4. It redirects to https://blog.python.org/
  5. See the same Python Insider blog but at one familiar domain

These instructions suggest the blogspot address will redirect to a custom domain:

Do we have a different setup?

From my limited use of blogspot I know this works well. I don't see a reason not to do this.
