Hi,

Even if ZK 3.6 is not part of our test suite (yet), you can use Kazoo with ZK 3.6 without any issue. As stated in the ZK 3.6 release note: ZooKeeper clients from 3.4 and 3.5 branch are fully compatible with 3.6 servers.. FWIW, I have been using it in production with a ZK 3.6.3 for months now.

I am using Kazoo with ephemeral nodes as well against ZK 3.6, with 10k clients without issue.

If your protocol error persists, please provide error logs, client side and server side in this issue.

Thanks
