Margins or padding on main wind rose image

Very impressive module. One thing: is there a way to add a margin or padding to the main wind rose image? At the moment, my legend just overlays the main plot, and I want to add the margin or padding to the wind rose so it doesn't. I've already used loc= to get the legend where I want it. Alternatively, can I make the canvas larger (but keep the wind rose the same size, and so have more white space to move the legend into?

Another way may be to treat it is a faux-subplot (which does have more spacing options), but I can't see a way to to do that.

Current plot looks like this, note how the legend box overlays the S at the bottom of the wind rose. That's what I am trying to fix.
