doc: add details about editable mode in basic usage

This is intended to be those documentation improvements. #3810 being closed does not imply that this should be closed.
It might nevertheless be completely reasonable to close this on other grounds: eg that it's stale and no-one seems to care about it.

I care! Late to this- but just to highlight I came this PR via google when I was trying to figure out why poetry install wasn't editable and this explains my issue. Placing it in the docs may have helped me figure this out sooner...
