Add on and off activity in addition to toggle

Thanks for adding the toggle activity. For apps like tasker or macrodroid having specific on and off activities would really help with automation. Thank you!

Can you clarify a bit more here?

When you launch the ON activity, should it automatically turn on the hotspot, or do you mean there is a button that only can turn on?

I dont use things like Tasker so I need some context here to understand.

Would an Intent with extra metadata work (like #376), or does it need to be a unique activity?

Intents work too. On should turn on the hotspot and off should turn it off. Otherwise things like tasker won't know the state of tetherfi and right now only using toggle could unintentionally turn off the hotspot if tasker becomes out of sync. For example, in tasker we can detect a bluetooth connection was made to a specific mac address and then key off that to turn on the hotspot. However, if the bluetooth connection was to drop and reconnect that would trigger the same tasker task resulting in the hotspot connection to be turned off.

Let me know if you need additional information, thanks!

Just wanted to jump in and second this request. Being able to start and stop the hotspot using an intent or activity will allow us to use apps like Tasker, Automate, or Macrodroid to automatically manage the hotspot. I use Tetherfi on an Android tablet, and I use Automate (https://llamalab.com/automate/) to perform a variety of automations. This would allow me to set up the hotspot on a schedule which will save a significant amount of battery life vs keeping it on all the time.
