What is the economic impact of public code?

At the opportunity stage of the membership funnel, people at potential member orgs often ask about the economic impact of public code (for example, "is public code anti-market?") Currently, we don't have consistent (and well researched) responses we can send to them.

This should be published on publiccode.net, not about.publiccode.net (for example as part of #71).

Could this issue also be solved by creating a "resources" section on the website and linking to resources there? The economic impact of public code could then be a section of the resources page.
