[Request] Performance oriented hacks - ?
Hello,
I have tried your driver while playing my wine games on my 3B+ and I managed to pull some decent performance out of it, doing trial and error on almost all the toggles.
I have been looking without success for something like GL Tools (android) ported to raspberry. In GL tools you can do severe hacks to your rendering (for example force 1x1 textures) thus making games uglier but giving the device a much broader panel of playable games than with full textures enabled.
Are you planning to add some severe discards and downscales (maybe in LIBGL_SHRINK) to improve performance while giving up quality (I prefer playing an ugly GTA3 than no GTA3 at all).
Thanks!
I have no plan for further LIBGL_SHRINK change like you describe. I doubt downscaling more and more. I think something like LIBGL_SHRINK=6 degrade already quality by quite à lot. Are you sure shrinking even more memory consumption would improve performances?
That actually worked for me with Pokémon GO and my 2010 device... when I shrink 1x1, it becomes meteoric (but well, it is really ugly, I admit -- a bit like Pokémon GO Commodore 64)
