Possibly rename to BCL?
A question that occasionally comes up with the current ADB name is the possible confusion with the Android Developer Bundle.
I thought of BCL in terms of "the upstream for the RHEL CDK", and then realised there was a nice backronym for that: Build Containers Locally
(It should really be BCJ, but I can't think of a neat backronym for that)
@ncoghlan Thanks for the suggestion. We need to do some brainstorming for this
and .. while it is funny as "build containers locally" .. it should be BCJ .. hmm
The reason I made the BCL vs BCJ mistake was due to HAL, so think it's reasonable to use BCL and have the homage be slightly more literal when it comes to the last letter.
Build Containers Judiciously :P
So who's volunteering to read through the entire "J" chapter in the dictionary?
I still quite like the "Nick-fails-at-the-alphabet" BCL option :)
Joyfully seems like a potential winner.
I could go with "Build Containers Joyfully" for the full HAL homage :)
What about CDB : container developer bundle ? at least it is inline to container development kit
So we discussed about atomic developer bundle with Bex during a meeting, and like Nick, found this was a bit confusing since this look like adb, and this might cause trouble when searching on Google.
So I suggested to remind us of our glorious roots and name it the GNU Developer Bundle, to clearly show the community side of the project. Bex did found the idea so great that he told me to chime in this bug to suggest it.
@whitel didn't you offer to follow up on list about this?
Should this naming discussion be revived? Personally I find "Atomic Developer Bundle" a very bad name, especially since Atomic app is really not in the center anymore. I think a better name would also help to gain some mind share.
If renaming is not an option anymore, this issue should be closed.
How about CDK :) /me ducks
How about CDK :)
I would love that. And call the RHEL based one CDK Enterprise.
