Linking to multi-site content doesn't work

I'm not sure if this is a bug or the field settings need changing, but when trying to the use the entries option and linking to multi-site content from another site, you can select the content and save an entry but the link it field is blank after reloading.

The test case used was:

1. Linkit field in matrix block using the entry option
2. Selecing an entry in a multi site from another
3. Saving the field
4. On reload the entry linkit value is blank.

I can also replicate this on the latest version.
