OTA from web link, instead of local (browse for file) source

To do OTA with IotWebConf, I must click a button to browse for the firmware file on my computer.

Instead, I'd like to click a button so that it automatically downloads the firmware from a website (myfirmware.com/latest.bin).

Is this something easy to do, or am I asking for trouble?

I do realize the security issue when doing this outside of AP mode, but for my situation the effort to use a crowbar is easier than hacking the OTA update.
