Observed behavior:
When not tiling, clicking with the mouse on applications (Teams, Firefox, Nautilus, etc) selects the intended target within that window every time.
When tiling, at some point, clicking on a windows will "skip" the foreground window and "activate" the desktop, as if I clicked the non-visible wallpaper behind the application/ application stack. It seems most prevalent when Teams for Linux is running (along with its tray icon), but sometimes also occurs when it is not. Clicking a second time will focus appropriately and perform a left-click on the application window. This makes using most GUI applications very difficult. Disabling/ Re-enabling tiling occasionally will fix this behavior for a bit, but rarely persists.
Stacked and non-stacked tiled applications are affected.
If a video would be beneficial, I could try to get a video capture of the behavior.
I should also note this behavior also exhibits when just on the Built-in screen (e.g. no external monitors)
I have the same issue, also on Ubuntu 24
Same issue here, Fedora Linux (gnome 48.2)
Nothing more to add, just glad I'm not the only one. Thought I was going crazy until I started to narrow down what was going on.
When this 50% click starts to occur, I can get it back to semi-functional again by grabbing the tiled window of Teams, and slightly reduce the width by about an inch, hold it there for a second or two, then let it go and the window will snap back to the edge. Clicking then resumes normal operation.
I have no good explanation.
I faced the same issue, Reinstalling fixed it.
make uninstall
rm -rf ~/.config/pop-shell
make local-install
I'm also on Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS and had this problem while using Wayland. Switching to x11, no more problem. In Wayland, the width reducing and the reinstall didn't fix it for me.
I've uninstalled the project from my Ubuntu install. I'll leave my issue open for others in case this gets fixed.
@inurja thanks for the tip to use x11! It's super easy since it's just a two-click process on the login screen. No more issues! It also seems to work faster now
The issue is also "fixed" by using the keyboard shortcuts to switch between windows. I "simply" never use the mouse to switch between tiled windows anymore.
On Wayland switching off Ubuntu's "Desktop Icons NG (DING)" extension fixed the issue for me
