Is there a way to play local files on the Tubular app?

Feature description

Is there a way to play local files on the Tubular app? If not, could this be added?

Why do you want this feature?

Tubular is a great video player by itself. I particularly love the ability to use gestures to very quickly and easily change the speed of the video with relative precision just by swiping vertically on a lateral of the player.

That's the main feature I like, and I couldn't find another Android player that could do that (I'll search about it a bit more on VLC and MPV), but there are other really good features.

Why is the feature relevant to this fork?

Well, I think this would be great for both projects. I just like Tubular more. I'm not sure if I understood it correctly, should I have opened this issue on upstream first?

I'm not sure if NewPipe is against such a feature, but Tubular provides so much appreciated additions that it was just natural to ask here.

Additional information

I'm on Tubular version 0.28.0 (latest available version on F-Droid).

I tried setting the default downloads folder for audio on an already existing folder with existing audio files, but Tubular didn't seem to recognize them.

If I had missed something, I'm sorry, maybe I didn't see everything but I have checked the player interface and configurations of Tubular, and the README, the FAQ and the issues (both open and closed ones) of both projects, searching by "local videos", "local files", and ~~skimming~~ (scanning?) through the titles, and I couldn't find something about it (I even triple checked, but I could have missed something).
