Autonumbering new items

Is it possible to use auto-number for fields (Name/inventory number) and fill in the serial-number for each deliverd item?

When marking the items as deliverd, I would like to fill in the fields name, inventory number and serial number for each item. Further would it be perfect to use autonumber for some fields (name and inventory-number), based on some rules. e.g.: PC-### (and starting with 639)

Please, make this option "optional", not mandatory (i.e. check if "Default inventory number" is empty, that means - no need to append it at all, if value is set - then please, use it as starting point for increment. Now Inventory number is enforced to append to Item name and serial number without option to avoid it.
And adding Inventory number to name and Serial number must be prefixed by i.e. "-" to have "Name-0001" and maybe "SerialNumber-0001" instead of "Name0001" and "SerialNumber0001". This is especially painful for serial numbers, when you have to recall what was original serial number after auto-creating item when you get i.e." 6548751315456462135" where original SN was i.e."6548751".
