Adding RaspberryPI OS Bookworm compatibility
I recently resurrected my old raspberry pi 4 with Pimori Fanshim and found that the latest version of RaspberryPI OS Bookworm would not be compatible. I assume some library has changed and been updated or replaced and I am wondering if it is possible to update the repository and introduce support for the latest version.
Bump, it would be nice.
I've noticed there is some inbuilt support for fans in Rapsbian itself, because somewhere in the settings there is an option to specify a fan pin - so it might be possible to hack a quick solution together using that?
Bookworm has its own on-off fan control built in. Use Raspi-config and navigate to the Performance options. The second one deals with Fan Control. Turn it on and set the GPIO pin to 18 and the temperature to whatever threshold you need for turning on the fan (default is 80 degC; range is 60 to 120 degC).
As a follow up to my post above I can confirm that the same option is available in trixie. You can use the new Control Centre to access the performance tab and indicate you have a case fan and set the pin to 18 and temperature threshold to your preferred value. I realise that you do not get the option in bookworm or trixie to set up the LED on the Fanshim but this might be possible if the python code is re-written in the original program which was provided.
