macOS app not notarized: "macOS could not verify this app is free of malware that could harm..."

Open xavez opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

The macOS App is not properly signed or notarized, leading to the following warning when trying to run phrase on macOS via terminal.

This is true both for installing via homebrew's brew command or downloading the binary directly.

Hi @xavez, thanks for raising this. The CLI is currently indeed not signed and we've created a task to sign the binary. In the meantime you could allow MacOS to run the binary in the systems settings or via xattr -d com.apple.quarantine path/to/phrase

@theSoenke that's good to hear. Thank you very much! I'm aware that I can circumvent the warning in different ways, however I prefer not to run unsigned software. It's one less thing to worry about 😃
