Feature request: ignore commands right after opening a link using link hints

If you use link hints to open links right now you you often end up typing the first relevant word, however usually the link is already opened before you hit the end of the word, which can cause you to issue unwanted commands, this is especially annoying with things like opening a new tab where you can't easily close it again.

Something like ignoring commands after opening a link for a short time or until someone stops typing could be nice.

If this is a feature that could be added I would be interested in trying to implement it myself.
