Should samples-testbed branch be in it's own repo?

I discovered this branch almost by accident and was initially confused.

I wouldn't usually expect to see a branch that had entirely different content and purpose to the main branch. It's also less discoverable than if it was a top level repo of it's own. Would it make more sense to split it out?
