Metronome beat sound, counting
Feature request to add a new beat sound to audibly count each beat.
1, 2, 3, etc
Hi, would a setting fit for you which adds text to speech audio to count-in? Or do you need it even if count-in has finished?
I would like the counting to continue even after the count-in phase has finished. Essentially, I want the app to audibly count each beat (e.g., '1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4') throughout the entire metronome session, not just during the count-in. It would be great to have an option within the 'Beat sound' settings labeled something like 'Counting' to enable this feature.
@SoftBlankie How should subdivisions sound?
For reference to make it clearer, this was what I had in mind. The counting of the beats, preferably with the tick sound accompanied with it is preferred to help with clarity. https://youtu.be/SQmFHtvNjlM
For the subdivisions, I like the ideas expressed in these videos. Unfortunately, I am not well-versed in music to know of a system for anything after 4 subdivisions so this may be up to your discretion. https://youtu.be/xx5Ci_GUtr8 https://youtu.be/-JT04FfvnGw
Hey there, Musician here (Guitar player of over 5 years) and I thought I would chime in.
I think the idea expressed in those videos is great, but it quickly breaks apart for uneven subdivisions (eg. 3 subdivisions in one beat, something I was just practicing). In that case, should the voice still say "And"? if so, it would sound like
1 and and 2 and and 3 and and 4 and and.
In music class, what we usually do for subdivisions is include a drummer who plays the subdivisions. I'm not at my computer but here's a quick sketch I made on Ultrabox for uneven subdivisions. Note that the agogo is meant to be the tempo and a standard drumkit is playing next to it. The agogo can be replaced with a human voice. Unfortunately I do not have any human voice samples at the moment. 3 subdivisions in one beat 4/4 6 subdivisions in one beat, 4/4 6 subdivisions in one beat, 3/4
Unfortunately Ultrabox is a very limited sketching tool so I cannot sketch out 7 and 5 subdivisions.
I feel like this is a fair compromise. Alternately, a second voice could be doing the counts for the subdivisions and the main voice doing the main divisions. This could work but it would be quite messy. It could work if the secondary voice skips the initial beat (kind of like how subdivisons work now), and we could use the system described in the videos, though I've never seen this system in my classes; we always just bring a drummer.
