Triple backticks?

According to https://docs.github.com/en/get-started/writing-on-github/getting-started-with-writing-and-formatting-on-github/basic-writing-and-formatting-syntax#quoting-code when using a code text block we should use triple backticks. But in Notes app it does not format the block. Are we supposed to use only single backticks? Those seems to work on multiple lines too.
