full screen "Text Editor" like old versions

I use Text editing heavily, store logs, command outputs etc. in the new version, I dislike the smaller window popup text editor which wastes a lot of my screen "realstate" which gets worst on a laptop screen.

How can we have the option of full screen, full width/full length text editing?
