The standardised way of doing this is to use the 'KIND' property of vCard 4. KIND is a property for each contact item. It can be Individual (default), Org (organisation), Group, or Location. Issue #464 sets-out a way of guessing KIND when a contact is created, and provides a way for User to change KIND for a specific contact. Issue #465 sets-out a way for the User to filter by Individual, Organisation, Group or Location kinds. To make it actually useful.
